Outdoor Curtain Walls are by necessity more robust in construction but are transparent enough to allow easy viewing through them.  The nature of the elements allows for the Outdoor Curtain Wall to follow any architectural curve or corner.  A one story high sign becomes an immediate local landmark while not closing in the view of the windows behind it.  On the economic side, because of the spacing and the intricate scanning ability the Outdoor Curtain Wall is considerably less costly than a full matrix sign of the same length that could use up to 3 times the same number of LEDs.  The hardware, controllers, driver boards, and wiring are tucked out of sight into the building soffit or utility room.

General Curtain Wall Information:

The Sunrise System’s “Curtain Wall” is a series of hanging circuit strips of LEDs (light emitting diodes) that span the distance between two stabilizer bars.  These LED circuit strips are slotted into the framework with the edge to the viewer; the LEDs are edge mounted.  The overall appearance is a barely visible (90% transparent) sign face.  The text running across the curtain appears to be floating in space.  The strips can be manufactured in 15” increments (24 LEDs).   A face can be any height from fifteen inches to thirty feet in height.  The length of a Curtain Wall is unlimited. 

On site assembly is efficiently quick and relatively simple.  The stabilizer bars are easily formed to handle convex and concave curved areas as well as open and closed right-angle corners.  The elements slip into place between the stabilizer bars and all of the hardware, controllers, driver boards, and wiring are tucked out of sight into a low profile base or ceiling box.  The weight of the sign is 5 lbs. per foot (based on a 60” active area – 4 elements, a 5’ high character)

All of the circuit strips in any Curtain Wall, no matter the color, are always purchased from the same manufacturer, from the same binning, down to the same lot number to guarantee the uniformity that makes these signs visually superior.  The LED colors may be any of the standard LEDs hues in the market: red, green, amber, blue, or white.  The Curtain Wall is programmed via PC on-site, or by Ethernet.  The font choices are many including the Exclusively Sunrise Cursive and Front-Cast-Shadow styles.  Any ASCII-256 font style can be created by request.
