The EXL-6000 is the 6” high character model.  The actual footprint of the sign with the chassis:  Height 9.0”  x  Depth 4.0”  x  Length (unlimited).  The industry rule of thumb is that for people that have 20/20 vision reading distance is 50 feet per inch of character height.  The signs in the EXL series use a 7 pixel high matrix. The EXL-6000 uses 4 LEDs per pixel but adheres to the seven pixel rule.  Since a 128 column sign yields the same visible character count no matter what the model, it is easier to compare the signs in the EXL series using length.   The length used to contrast each model in specific will be 128” wall (rounded to the nearest whole card length that fits).  The character used is a standard 7x5 pixels with a built-in 1 column between characters making it 7x6 pixels.  The length of a 128 column sign will also be included.

The EXL-6000 uses LED cards of 16 columns each that are 16 inches wide.  A 128 inch wall would use a 13 card sign (128.0 inches) adding up to 128 columns.  The visible letter count is 21 characters.  The LED count is 3,584.  The EXL-6000 weighs 3.5 lbs. per linear foot.

EXL SERIES

The Sunrise Systems EXL sign is a workhorse unit.  The EXL series is used by
all areas of display including retail, transit, exhibition, trade show, television, film,
and fine art.

These signs are dynamic visual elements, and often used in series or groups.  Adding a functional second side is a good way to multi-direct your message.  The EXL is capable of working in series, running independently, in tandem, as a synchronized group, or as a leader and clone chain.  The EXL can accept data from a central information source, local or Ethernet, and/or the lead sign can control the others in a chain. 

The LEDs used in the EXL series have been carefully chosen for brightness and consistency.  Individual signs and sign groups, no matter the color, are always made
from the same manufacturer, from the same binning, down to the same lot number to guarantee the uniformity that makes these signs visually superior.  The standard LED colors are: red, green, amber, blue, and white. 
 
The EXL chassis features an extremely flexible configuration and is designed with the capability to fit a multitude of architectural situations.  The chassis are straight or curve-able and have no length limitations.  The EXL’s ability to easily adapt to convex, concave, right-angle, or combination surfaces during on-site installation make it a natural for designers and architects.  The curved chassis is segmented with stabilizing spines.  These spines are snipped on-site to exactly fit curved surfaces to make that installation trouble free.  A bezel or faceplate can be used to dress up a sign’s appearance.  Chassis, bezel, and trim strips are usually black or brushed aluminum but any color is possible by request.  Stainless steel chassis are also available by order and not uncommon for us.

Note:  The sign cards and internal components can be kitted for direct installation without a chassis to fit into a prepared wall cavity or other shallow area.  The power supplies and CPU boards, etc can be off-boarded to another location as long as it is within a reasonable distance (10 feet or less).   

The flexible, extendable EXL sign series features several text heights denoted by the number in the name.  The EXL series includes the EXL-6000 (6 inch character), and the EXL-3000, 2000, 1500 (1.5 inch character) to complete the standard series.  Other character heights, such as the EXL-10000 (10 inch character), are available by request.
